Superb beef,thank god for Fat Lou's for all the Chicagoans living in South Florida. Great place to get a beef and watch the Cubbies.

I really wanted to like this beef being its proximity to work and they seem like friendly people.The au jus needs some serious spicing,it's very bland. A good sized sammy for the price ($6.95) but if this place was in the Chicago area they wouldn't survive.

Wet-Peppers
Spent the week in Tampa to see my beloved Cubbies and hang out w/ my sister.I've known about Mel's for years but never tried there beef. I was served by Mel himself as he commented on my Cubs attire while I was ordering my beef.Turns out Mel is a Sox fan and used to sneak into Wrigley as a kid and root for the other team!! Great place for dogs but beef was a very bland and was very dry even though I ordered it wet.Also meat was sliced too thick and the bread tasted more like Cuban bread.

Chain or no chain Portillos is my go to place for beef when I go back home. Big beef is the way to go but another great option for something a little different is the Beef & Cheddar Croissant. WOW was it good. In all my years eating at this fine establishment I've never had a problem with the food being made wrong or fries cold,etc. Waiting for the food is also pretty entertaining watching the employees fix ALL the food because they've got a HUGE menu.
